I was surprised to read in the Chronicle this morning that the road going to Sleeping Beauty will be closed. Some might know it from Upper Hogtown Parking Area to Dacy Clearing. The announcement comes from New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and is most likely due to budget reasons. No reason was mentioned in the Chronicle’s article but did say something about a budget crunch. This will mean that the hike going up Sleeping Beauty will be a little bit longer.
