About Me
My name is Jonathan Volks and I am extremely passionate about hiking. During the week I am a Web Applications Developer at Mannix Marketing. On the weekend, I love to go hiking up in the Adirondack Mountains. I’m not a licensed guide or a “hardcore” hiker but its something I love.
I own adkhiking.com and have large ideas for this website. The problem with my large ideas is that I don’t have the time to implement them. I wanted a place where I could make a log of my hikes and let everyone read them however the development of adkhiking.com is taking to long so I created AdirondackHiker.com with wordpress installed on it. It was quick for me to install and now I can write about my weekly hikes into the Adirondacks.
Each time I do some type of trip into the Adirondacks, whether it be hiking, mountain biking or fishing, I’ll write about it here for people to read. I hope you’ll feel free to leave comments on my adventures.

Hi Jonathan, I welcome your advice. We
I’d like to plan a 7 day backpacking trip to Adrondaks this August. My dog and a friend of mine will be treking along with me. Can you tell me what loop you would recommend with the fewest people. We plan to do roughly 10 mile days.
The other option may be set up a base camp and then trek day hikes (loops) that can be accessed from the base camp or a short drive from base camp.
I read about the 50 mile loop around Crandberry Lake but I am suspect that these trails may be too crowded for our liking.
I also enjoy hiking and have a “website in progress”. Check it out.
